Costa Rica is served by two international airports, one of which is located near the capital city of San Jose, and the other near the city of Liberia in the northwest province of Guanacaste.  From either airport, travellers can enjoy a short flight on one of Costa Rica’s regional airlines, Sansa or NatureAir, to the local airstrip at Tambor.  Transportation by bus or “turismo” minibus is also readily available from either of the international airports.  However, we highly recommend that visitors to the Southern Nicoya peninsula rent a car or SUV upon their arrival at the airport.

Not only will they enjoy an exciting and scenic drive to Villa Toscana, they will then have the freedom to explore this exotic region on their own schedule and at their own pace.

From Liberia, the route over mostly paved highway takes about 3 ½ hours, and covers the full length and breadth of the Nicoya Peninsula.  The drive from San Jose is more adventurous, since the highway traverses Costa Rica’s rugged mountain range before descending to the port city of Puntarenas,  where travellers then embark on a 1 ½ hour ferry ride across the Gulf of Nicoya to the town of Paquera, and then on to the nearby town of  Cobano.  The drive from San Jose usually takes around 5 hours.

Upon their arrival at either the airstrip at Tambor or the town center of Cobano, visitors will be greeted by our property manager, who will accompany them to Villa Toscana to ensure a relaxing, fun and informal arrival and check-in.
